CHELMSFORD MUSEUM'S HALF-TERM HOLIDAY FUN
Chelmsford Museum presents a collection of half-term activities that will leave children and adults enthralled with wonder.
First up, the 'Over and Underground Museum Trail' starts on Saturday 22 October at Chelmsford Museum, Oaklands Park. The Museum trail is a fun and interesting way to explore the Museum's fascinating collections. The trail is free and starts from the museum's reception. Suitable for children aged four and over; the trail will run until the end of the year.
On Sunday 23 October, Sandford Mill, Chelmsford, will be opening its doors for the 'Science Discovery Day', between 10am and 4pm. The event will be a great family day out with lots of hands-on activities to try. During your visit you can take part in:
- 'Science in a Suitcase' a visiting show which has fun experiments for all the family to enjoy plus take-home DIY science projects your children will love. The show will take place at 10.45am, 11.45am, 1.45pm and 2.45pm in The Barn, Sandford Mill.
- During 'Filter House Trail' you can solve water challenges, look inside the Filter House and learn about Chelmsford's water supply. Trail starts at 12 noon and 3pm from the Barn.
- 'The Marconi Story', shows how radio changed the world. Build switches, use an electric telegraph to send Morse code and read the Sandford Mill News on screen. Marconi Story Tours at 11am and 2pm in the Engine House.
The Science Discovery Day is FREE for children and £2.00 for adults. Parking is also FREE. Delicious treats will be available.
On 27 October budding geologists can enjoy a Fossil Fun Craft Workshop at Chelmsford Museum. The museum has an amazing collection of fossils and there will be the opportunity to make your own. The workshops are aimed at children aged four and over and entry is £3 per child. The workshops start at 10.30am, 11.30am, 1.30pm and 2.30pm.
