Hackney Colliery Band have had a simply phenomenal few years. From playing a 45 minute set at the Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics and sets at the MOBO, Brit and Mercury Awards to live sessions on BBC Two, BBC Radio 2 and Jazz FM. Hailing from Essex, Jordan made TV history as the first ever Transgender contestant on The Voice where she was a semi-finalist on Paloma Faith’s team. But before TV fame she had already built up a solid local reputation for her regular performances at local venues where her music and stage persona have been compared to the likes of Marc Bolan, Kate Bush, Freddy Mercury, David Bowie and Florence Welch. Another act flying the flag for local talent are the hugely popular and charismatic 5-piece, Winston and the Lads. Prepare to be blown away with their energetic mix of covers and festive sing-alongs.
The BIG Sing
This year we welcome the vocal talents of local community choir, The Big Sing. Not only have they performed alongside the likes of Ellie Goulding and London Community Gospel Choir but they have also sung for the Jamie Oliver, toured with Leona Lewis and featured on TV as finalists on BBC Songs of Praise Gospel Choir of the Year competition. www.big-sing.com
Essex A.C.F Corps of Drummers
Helping kick off the main stage entertainment the Essex A.C.F Corps of Drummers will be starting proceedings by leading spectators up through the city centre to Shire Hall.
But before the main stage entertainment begins there are festive treats lined up in Chelmsford City Centre from 12pm including face painting, mulled wine, walkabout panto fun, tombola and all important Santa & sleigh.
