Mr Carter died after the incident on the northbound carriageway of the A130 on March 26th this year. The collision, which involved a cyclist and vehicles, led to a major emergency response and the road being closed for several hours.
His identity was confirmed during a recent court hearing, with details also appearing in official inquest listings published by Essex Coroner’s Service.
The hearing was told that Mr Carter died at the scene following the crash, which took place on one of Essex’s busiest routes connecting Chelmsford, Basildon and the wider road network.
Police investigations into the circumstances of the collision are ongoing, with officers previously appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
The incident prompted renewed discussion about road safety on major A-roads in Essex, particularly concerning vulnerable road users such as cyclists.
