Art & Sip have teamed up with Frily, the experience experts! Here's what Ryan from Frily had to say after he interviewed James, the founder of Art & Sip and Mackenzie Art Events.

Discover your arty side in 2022...

Here at Frily we love an experience that gets the creative juices flowing and what better way to do it than with a cheeky drink in hand? We’ll take a Prosecco thanks!

Our friends at Art & Sip do just that, combining a range of fantastic art classes with a glass of fizz and delicious food in some stunning venues across Chelmsford, and you can grab yourself the experience right here on Frily.

The man behind the concept is Chelmsfordian James Mackenzie, a professional artist himself with a fine art degree under his belt. After teaching for 7 years, James decided it was time to really go for it with his career in art, so waved goodbye to the classroom and hello to the easel full-time. Still wanting to inspire others to find their artistic flair he discovered ‘Sip & Paint’ a huge craze the other side of the pond, who knew!? Not wanting to keep them exclusive to one style the idea of the Art & Sip classes had arrived… and we’re happy it did.

The thing we love the most about James is his passion for his craft and desire to share this with others… which will definitely show as he takes you through the steps of your experience, recreating one of his very own masterpieces – you’ll be in safe hands.

James might be a professional artist, but he still uses art as his outlet and swears by it; now he wants you to do the same. The Art & Sip experiences offer a chance to slow down and focus on something for you, making them a great stress relief… and we could all do with that after the last couple of years!

You might be sat there thinking ‘I’m no good at art’ or ‘art isn’t for me’… is that you? Well, James would disagree and couldn’t stress to us enough that art is for everyone, even if you don’t think you ‘can do it’ he knows you can. The thing he loves seeing the most at the end of each class are people’s reaction at how their masterpieces have turned out and their sheer surprise at how good they are. See, told you so!

So, whether you’re looking to find a new passion, have some you time, get your creative juices flowing or simply try something a bit different then we say give the Art and Sip experiences a try. You can currently choose from either acrylic painting or candle making, with more options on their way, go check them out!
