Chelmsford City Council have warned: "If you're out and about in one of Chelmsford's green spaces close to a river, please take care over the next day or two.
"The Rivers Chelmer, Can and Wid are all higher than usual, and some footpaths and cycle tracks close to the river banks will be impassable.
"This particularly applies to the river valley flood meadows in the Bunny Walks, Admirals Park and West Park.
If you're out walking a dog in the early morning or after dark, please avoid areas of flood water and keep your dog on a lead in these locations."
