From the outset, the Clarets looked dangerous. Jason Adigun rattled the woodwork in the 27th minute after a flowing move — but inches, not luck, denied him a goal. Despite dominating large spells of the first half, City were unable to convert their pressure into a breakthrough.
That missed opportunity proved costly. In the 62nd minute, 24-year-old Louis Britton — a summer signing for the Seagulls — volleyed a pinpoint cross into the top corner to open the scoring. Weston-super-Mare then held firm, and after a late defensive error and a red card for Chelmsford, Britton struck again in the 88th minute from close range to seal a 2–0 win.
The result ends Chelmsford’s FA Cup journey for the 2025–26 season — while Weston-super-Mare make club history by reaching the Third Round for the first time in their 138-year existence.
