The innovative modular units, which are purpose-built to offer high-quality living spaces, will enable CHESS to expand its supported housing programme and reach more individuals facing homelessness in the region. Each home is fully fitted with modern amenities, insulation, and essential facilities to help residents stabilise their lives and begin their journey toward independence.
According to the charity, the new homes will be allocated to people who have experienced homelessness or are at immediate risk, offering not just shelter but also access to vital support services. These include mental health assistance, employment guidance, and welfare support — all crucial elements in helping individuals rebuild their lives long-term.
CHESS Homeless CEO expressed gratitude toward local partners, funders, and community supporters who helped make the project possible, noting that the addition of these homes comes at a critical time as demand for homelessness support continues to rise.
The charity plans to begin welcoming residents in the coming weeks, marking one of its most significant expansions to date. Local leaders and community organisations have praised the project as a proactive and compassionate response to the ongoing housing challenges faced by vulnerable people in Chelmsford.
With these new modular homes, CHESS Homeless Charity aims to provide not just a roof over someone's head, but a foundation for hope, stability, and a brighter future.
