Nashville comes to Chelmsford, as Dixie Fields full line up announced

Dixie Fields, Essex’s first country music festival, has completed its debut line up with a wave of high profile country music stars from the US and the UK.

In January ACM New Female Vocalist of the Year and American Idol star Lauren Alaina was confirmed as Dixie Field’s first headliner. In 2018, the Georgia native’s critically-acclaimed Road Less Traveled album featured on Billboard, Rolling Stone and Amazon end-of-year “Best Of” lists, became the top-streamed female country album release of the year, and featured Lauren’s first No. 1 hit, title track “Road Less Traveled."

Today, “Britain’s first country stars” Ward Thomas have now been added to the Dixie Fields line-up. Twin sisters Catherine and Lizzy Ward Thomas were the first UK country act to reach No 1 in the UK Album charts with their acclaimed second album ‘Cartwheels’ and are now officially the most successful UK country act ever.

Lauren Alaina and Ward Thomas will be joined at Dixie Fields by:

Royal South, an original Nashville powerhouse trio, featuring SarahBeth, Glen Mitchell and Vickie Vaughn.

Megan McKenna, who shot to fame through TOWIE, but has reinvented herself as a country music star. Her first single, ‘High Heeled Shoes’, reached #1 in the itunes charts, and she now spends more time in Nashville than Essex.

Jackson Mickelson, an Oregon native and now Nashville resident, has played with the likes of Lady Antebellum, Blake Shelton and Zac Brown Band. He’ll be making his UK debut performance at Dixie Fields.

Megan O’Neill, a multi award winning Irish country star who has played C2C, Nashville Meets London, Black Deer, and has also had her music featured on ABC’s hit show Nashville.

Other Dixie Fields acts include Remember Monday, who made a name for themselves this year working with Jennifer Hudson on ITV’s The Voice; acclaimed Essex acts Holloway Road, The Jackson Line and Hannah Paris; as well as UK country legends Gary Quinn and Stevie O’Connor.

The boutique country music festival will take place on the weekend of 12-14 July on farmland bordering the beautiful Hylands Park. Dixie Fields will feature a Friday evening outdoor cinema and campsite acoustic session, a full country music lineup on the Saturday, and a big American style brunch on the Sunday morning for campers.

Country Music is the nation’s fastest growing genre and Dixie Fields are passionate about a festival that features country stars from US as well as the very best local talent.

Georgie Thorogood, Operations Director for Dixie Fields says “We are so excited to be bringing this event to Essex. I’ve been a huge fan of country music for many years, spending hours listening to Dolly Parton and the Dixie Chicks. I’m delighted that it is experiencing a huge surge in popularity in the UK at the moment and there is massive demand for the genuinely good fun times that come with this type of music — think marshmallows and songs around the campfire — and this is what we will be offering at Dixie Fields.

Essex has an amazing pool of talent in country music and we can’t wait to showcase some of the local stars alongside the international talent as well!”

The main day of the festival will be Saturday 13th July with camping available on both the Friday and Saturday nights with additional entertainment for camping ticket holders!
