Position Overview
Role Title: Prison Officer
Employment Type: Full-time or Part-time (flexible hours to suit your lifestyle)
Location: HMP Chelmsford, Springfield, Chelmsford CM2 6HQ
Salary Range: £33,746 – £38,003 per annum (pro-rated for part-time; includes shift allowances)
Start Date: Rolling recruitment; successful candidates to commence training as soon as possible
Contract Type: Permanent, subject to probationary period
As a Prison Officer, you will ensure the safe and secure daily operations of the prison, support offender rehabilitation, and contribute to a positive environment. This role involves dynamic shift patterns, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, offering variety and work-life balance through generous leave entitlements.
To be considered, you must:
Be at least 18 years of age at the start of employment.
Meet UK Civil Service nationality criteria (UK national, indefinite leave to remain, or eligible right to work).
Demonstrate strong personal qualities such as resilience, empathy, fair judgment, and effective communication.
Pass a pre-employment medical examination and fitness assessment (basic physical standards apply).
