Katy started her vocal training at the age of 18 at Colchester institute where she achieved a Distinction in popular music performance. Katy then moved to London to study a Diploma at Tech Music Schools where she was then successfully accepted to undergo a degree in Popular music where she graduated in 2010.

During her time in London, Katy became a session singer for the BBC and ITV doing backing vocals for artists on shows like The National Lottery, Blue Peter, Fame Academy and featuring in the world cup advert in 2010 for The SUN newspaper.

Katy has been taught by a number of highly proclaimed vocal coaches such as David and Carrie Grant (Fame Academy), Kim Chandler and Annabel Williams (X Factor/Britain's Got Talent) and is now able to pass on their great teachings to her own students and has been doing so since 2010.

​Katy has always had a passion for songwriting and her songs have reached the top 10 in the iTunes Rock Charts, been played on TV shows such as Tattoo Fixers and BT Sport's MOTO GP and have lead her to play festivals such as Download, Vans Warped Tour, Sonisphere and many others with her band, Tigress. Tigress signed their record deal in 2011 and have gone on to tour the UK, Europe, Russia and Japan with bands such as Billy Talent, Counterfeit, Metro Station and McFly.



Katy offers professional coaching on a one to one basis covering singing techniques, music theory, songwriting lessons and creating YouTube videos. Katy has over 10 years experience in coaching and is passionate about helping her students achieve their goals within the music industry.

Katy specialises in vocal development, performance techniques and vocal exams for all ages and abilities in a one to one setting in her Chelmsford studio. Students are often given the chance to singing live at many local events as well as special opportunities to work with TV shows such as The Voice and X Factor.

Singing lessons are often a daunting thought but it is just like learning any other skill, it requires practice and patience. Throughout your singing lessons you will learn about vocal biology and development and can even under go exams to gain recognition and confidence in your ability.

Katy is a very relaxed singing teacher and likes to make her lessons enjoyable and informative, while pushing her students to make the most out of their talent. Katy is often encouraging students to write their own songs, or create vocal covers on YouTube to help build confidence and an online presence with the aim of becoming a professional singer either as an artist, session singer or in the function sector.

Understanding music theory is not necessary for singing lessons, however Katy likes to encourage her singers to aim to understand the basics in order to best communicate musically. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate or advanced music theory student, Katy can help you learn or enhance your music theory skills. She can take you through your theory exams, get you reading music fluently and understanding the theory for GCSE, A-LEVELS, DEGREES, or even just for your own information and confidence.

Singing lessons will take place in a fully equipped singing studio which is based in Springfield, Chelmsford. The studio is part of Havengore Shops and offers free parking as well as other local amenities

Dixie Fields, Essex’s first country music festival, has completed its debut line up with a wave of high profile country music stars from the US and the UK.
The National Police Dog K9 Memorial has been unveiled in Oaklands Park, outside Chelmsford Museum, in honour of police dogs across the country.
