Created and written by Jed Mercurio, and produced by World Productions in association with ITV Studios, the seventh series will see Martin Compston, Vicky McClure, and Adrian Dunbar reprise their iconic roles as Superintendent Steve Arnott, DI Kate Fleming, and Superintendent Ted Hastings respectively.
Filming will commence in Belfast in Spring 2026, with further casting to be announced in due course.
In this gripping new chapter, AC-12 – now rebranded as the Inspectorate of Police Standards – faces its most sensitive and challenging case yet. In an era where anti-corruption work has never been more difficult, the team investigates charismatic Detective Inspector Dominic Gough, celebrated for his takedowns of organised crime but accused of abusing his position for predatory sexual behaviour. Yet, as suspicions mount, it becomes clear that Gough's case may be a calculated smokescreen for a far greater threat lurking in the shadows.
Jed Mercurio, creator and writer, said: "Everyone involved in Line of Duty feels enormous gratitude to the show's fans. Corruption in this country is supposed to have come to an end while Line of Duty was off air, so I've been forced to use my imagination."
Vicky McClure said: "It goes without saying I'm so excited Line of Duty is back! Can't wait to work with Jed, Martin and Adrian again. Belfast, we'll see you soon!"
Adrian Dunbar remarked: "As we count down the AC-12 days of Christmas, what a joy it is to know that the Three Amigos will be back filming together next year. Delighted with the news and looking forward to those mercurial twists and turns."
