
The incident happened at around 8:30 am on Thursday 11 December close to Lawford Mead Primary School in Trent Road, when a young pedestrian was struck by a vehicle that failed to stop at the scene.
The injured pedestrian was taken to hospital with minor injuries. Officers believe the vehicle involved was a white car, possibly a hatchback, and was last seen turning into Cherwell Drive shortly after the collision.
Police are appealing for anyone with information, dash-cam footage or CCTV that could help the investigation to come forward. Residents in the area are also being urged to check doorbell or dash-cam footage from around the time of the incident.
Anyone who saw the collision or has relevant footage is asked to contact Essex Police, quoting incident 254 of December 11.
