The team at Farleigh Hospice is delighted to announce the return of its much-loved Christmas Tree Recycling scheme for early 2026. From Friday 9th January to Monday 12th January 2026, residents across mid-Essex are invited to register their real Christmas trees for doorstep collection and responsible disposal.
With over a decade of experience running the “treecycle”, Farleigh’s volunteers - affectionately known as the “Farleigh Elves” - are fully equipped to carry out collections with minimum fuss. Registered trees will be picked up from outside homes between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm during the collection window. Registered households are urged to have their tree ready by 8:00 am on Friday 9th January, in a safe and unobstructed location.
Collected trees won’t end up in landfill. Instead, they’ll be chipped and repurposed - either as biomass fuel, or as mulch and pathway cover in local parks and cemeteries - supporting both sustainability and community green spaces.
All proceeds from the recycling service go directly toward funding Farleigh’s crucial hospice care across mid-Essex - care that remains free of charge to patients and families affected by life-limiting illness and bereavement.
To register a tree for collection, residents need to sign up via the Farleigh Hospice website before 4:00 pm on Tuesday 6th January 2026. The fundraising team is also calling for volunteers - especially those with vans or suitable vehicles - to help with collections. Every extra pair of hands helps.
As one of the region’s most loved post-Christmas initiatives, the Christmas Tree Recycling scheme combines environmental responsibility with community support and charitable giving - offering a hassle-free, meaningful way to say goodbye to your festive fir.
