Chelmsford, Essex – Popular men’s formalwear retailer Suit Direct is set to open a new store at The Meadows Shopping Centre in Chelmsford as part of the city centre destination’s ongoing revitalisation.
The retailer, known for offering quality suits, shirts, accessories and casualwear from leading designers, will occupy a substantial unit (approximately 5,000 sq ft) within the shopping centre. Hoarding at the site indicates the store is scheduled to open in Spring 2026, although an exact opening date has not yet been confirmed.
This latest letting forms part of a wider regeneration effort at The Meadows, which aims to breathe new life into the centre with a refreshed mix of fashion, dining, leisure and entertainment offerings. Other planned additions include new restaurants and a Hollywood Bowl leisure attraction later in 2026.
Suit Direct has been expanding its UK store portfolio rapidly in recent months, with recent openings and refurbishments including Liverpool, Watford and Cheshire Oaks. The brand specialises in modern, stylish menswear suitable for weddings, proms, business, race days and other formal occasions. Customers can often book free one-to-one appointments in store for a personalised shopping experience.
A spokesperson for the shopping centre operator welcomed the arrival, noting that the new tenant will help diversify the retail offer and attract more visitors to Chelmsford city centre.
Local shoppers can look forward to Suit Direct’s signature range of affordable yet high-quality suits and formal attire when the store opens its doors this spring.
Further details, including the precise opening date and any launch events, are expected to be announced closer to the time.
