The annual event takes place on Monday, May 25th, at the historic railway museum in Chappel and Wakes Colne near Colchester, with organisers promising one of the biggest family transport events of the year.
Visitors will be able to get up close to as many as 200 classic and vintage vehicles, including classic cars, buses, commercial vehicles, agricultural machinery and motorbikes. Friendly car clubs and exhibitors from across the region are also expected to attend.
One of the biggest attractions of the day will be the chance to enjoy unlimited rides on vintage steam and diesel trains, included with admission to the museum. The miniature railway will also be operating throughout the event.
Organisers have also confirmed that vintage bus rides will run between 11am and 3pm, giving visitors the opportunity to take a nostalgic tour through the Essex countryside aboard historic buses.
The museum’s Goods Shed will host trade stalls selling everything from model vehicles to crafts and memorabilia, while the Braintree and Halstead Model Railway Club will have layouts on display for railway enthusiasts.
Families attending the event will also be able to enjoy the site’s train-themed playground, café facilities and ice cream vendors, with food and drink available throughout the day.
The East Anglian Railway Museum is one of Essex’s best-known heritage attractions and has been preserving railway history since the late 1960s. Located beside the famous Chappel Viaduct, the museum regularly hosts steam days, model railway exhibitions and vintage transport events throughout the year.
Organisers say the Classic Vehicle Show remains one of the museum’s busiest annual events and are encouraging visitors to book tickets early due to high demand.
