Here 's what to expect on Sunday 19 November from 10am to 3pm.
This month, we will be commemorating 'World War II at Hylands' where you will be able to read more about in our social history exhibition in the Library.
Essex Historic Military Vehicle Association
Outside Hylands House, we will be joined by the Essex Historic Military Vehicle Association (EHMVA or Essex HMVA), one of the fastest growing military Associations in the UK, who help preserve military history, vehicles, and artefacts. They will be displaying jeeps typical of the type used by British Special Forces – an Airbourne Jeep and a Popski Private Army jeep.
We're delighted the EHMVA will be with us this month, and if you're familiar with our history or have attended one of our tours, you'll enjoy the significance having jeeps in Hylands House has! Learn more about it by the Grand Staircase.
The Stables at Hylands Estate
Visit the Stables Information Point and pick up your handset to explore the Pleasure Gardens in a brand-new way! Our Hylands History & Gardens guided tour will be available for you to hire or scan the QR code and listen along with our new tour about the Estate and how it came to be.
Keep an eye out for Hawthorn Heavy Horse carriage rides that start from the front of the House! Pay on the day and take a trip around the Estate with a difference.
Our popular new café The Deli will be open at the Stables all day! The courtyard will be covered, so you can enjoy food, drink and live music no matter the weather! The Deli is open daily from 8am to 4pm.
