Chelmsford City Council is reminding residents to renew their garden waste subscription to ensure uninterrupted kerbside collections from March 2026.
Those who renew by 15th January 2026 will receive their new bin sticker before collections begin on 1st March 2026. The annual subscription fees for the 2026 season remain as follows:
£62 for one brown bin
£32 for a second brown bin
£62 each for a third, fourth, fifth or sixth brown bin
Residents can now choose to pay for their subscription by Direct Debit, offering a convenient, automatic renewal every year. For the 2026–27 service, Direct Debit payments will be taken on or around 15 January 2026.
To set up Direct Debit for the upcoming season, residents must renew no later than Sunday 14th December 2025. Those who miss this date can still renew manually but will need to make a one-off payment and will not be able to begin paying by Direct Debit until future years.
A spokesperson for Chelmsford City Council said: “We encourage residents to renew as early as possible to avoid any disruption to their garden waste collections. Setting up Direct Debit ensures your subscription continues seamlessly each year, without the need to remember renewal dates.”
Garden waste collections provide an easy and environmentally friendly way to dispose of grass cuttings, small branches, leaves and other green waste, helping to keep Chelmsford’s neighbourhoods clean and reducing landfill use.
Residents can renew or amend their subscription online through the Chelmsford City Council website.
