
Officers said two vehicles were seized and 28 motorists were reported for various offences during the enforcement activity, which focused on improving road safety and identifying potentially dangerous vehicles and drivers.
The operation involved specialist roads policing officers carrying out checks on vehicles travelling around the airport area, one of the busiest transport hubs in the East of England.
Police said offences detected during the checks included issues relating to vehicle condition, documentation and driver compliance.
Focus On Road Safety Around Stansted
Essex Police regularly conduct proactive traffic operations around Stansted Airport due to the high volume of vehicles travelling through the area each day, including taxis, private hire vehicles, delivery vans and international travellers.The force says these operations are designed to:
• improve road safety• identify uninsured or unsafe vehicles
• tackle illegal driving activity
• ensure motorists comply with UK road laws
During the May 5th operation, officers stopped numerous vehicles for inspection, with two ultimately seized by police.
