The investigation was launched when immigration officers found what appeared to be two illegal workers during a visit on June 29th, 2023.
Mosaic were adamant the two men were not illegal workers, even though one person was behind a “Just Eat” terminal in a ‘staff only’ area and the other was washing dishes in the kitchen.
It is understood that both men found at the restaurant entered the country illegally on May 7th, 2023 and had made an application for leave to remain.
Representatives for Mosaic put forward a list of changes made to the restaurant in the hope their licence could be kept, with certain conditions in place.
As part of the committee statement they said: "The committee was satisfied, on the balance of probabilities, that these two individuals were illegal workers employed at the premises at the time of the unannounced visit on the 29th June, 2023 by officers from the Immigration, Compliance and Enforcement Team (ICE)."
The committee continued: "The Committee had given consideration to the proposed conditions put forward by the licence-holders agent as an alternative option to revocation. However, the Committee was of the view that revocation was the only appropriate course of action in this particular case."
